Abstract:

In response to both regulatory and consumer pressures, companies are increasingly committed to characterizing and communicating chemical hazards to workers and the public.  Robust hazard assessment is central to a number of key compliance actions, including the dissemination of safety data sheets, protection of confidential business information, and submission of various regulatory obligations (e.g., chemical registrations).  A comprehensive understanding of the hazards of your products (including what is known and what is not known) is becoming more important as the trend to disclose ingredients grows.

Arriving at well-researched hazard conclusions can be challenging, particularly since publicly available data on chemical toxicity is rapidly expanding.  This webinar will cover obstacles to arriving at sound hazard conclusions, methods for conducting a robust hazard management program, and ways of communicating consistent, supportable hazard information internally and to the public.  Maintaining a hazard assessment program requires significant resources including well-qualified toxicologists and chemists.  This investment, however, not only ensures basic compliance needs are met, but sets the platform for proactive product stewardship activities.  Some of the activities can include engaging in efforts to "green" supply chains, developing internal standards that limit human health and environmental risks, and being more responsive to customer demands for sustainable products.
