Asian Chemicals Forum report

Posted October 11, 2023

Following the first Asian Chemicals Forum (ACF) in New Delhi last month, Chemical Watch has shared a summary report of proceedings and key outcomes with its members.

During the two-day event, regulatory and chemical experts from OECD, UNEP, India, the European Commission and other territories discussed the frameworks and regulatory interventions that will guide the use of chemicals in the future.

With a focus on the impact for chemicals management in Asia, discussion topics included:

  • the UN’s proposed replacement framework for SAICM;
  • new EU classification norms for endocrine disruptors;
  • the impact of proposed PFAS restrictions;
  • the emergence of national chemicals management systems in Asia; and
  • GHS adoption.

The ACF is a spin-off event from the Helsinki Chemicals Forum. The event was organised by the Regulatory Representative and Manager’s Association (RRMA) along with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Global Product Compliance (GPC).

We hope you find the summary report useful. A longer version of the proceedings is also available.

Kind regards,

The Chemical Watch team
