Description of current awards: 

Jennifer Silk Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award: 

The HAZCOM Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of hazard communication or to the SCHC over an extended period of time. Recipients of the award must have achieved one or more specific accomplishments that collectively meet at least one of the following additional criteria:

  • Exceptional performance in the field of hazard communication
  • Lasting impact on the practice of hazard communication
  • Broad benefits to hazard communication professionals or users of hazard communication information

 Award: A plaque, VISA gift certificate for $100 and automatic distinguished service membership.

Nominees need not be members of SCHC. Nominations should be submitted for review by June 1.  Qualifying submissions will be sent to Board for final approval. Award presented at the Annual Meeting.

 SCHC Outstanding Service Award

The SCHC Outstanding Service Award recognizes individuals who have contributed outstanding services to SCHC beyond their function as committee member or chair. Their accomplishments may be either:

  • One or more major contributions to SCHC over a relatively short period of time, or
  • Service over a long period of time that demonstrates true commitment to SCHC.
  • This award was given as “exceptional service” to chair of the SCHC Arrangements Committee for the past ten years.

Award: A plaque, VISA gift certificate for $80. 

Nominees must be members of SCHC. Nominations should be submitted for review by June 1.  Qualifying submissions will be sent to Board for final approval. Award presented at the Annual Meeting.

Outstanding Volunteer Recognition

The Outstanding Volunteer Recognition Award recognizes individuals who have contributed outstanding services to SCHC. Their accomplishments may be either:

  • A single big project that was executed by the individuals
  • Extended service above or beyond for the year

Award: Certificate and $20 VISA gift certificate. 

Nominees need not be members of SCHC. The Nominations are submitted to Membership Committee for review and final approval. This would be awarded to 1-2 people per meeting. The nominations would come from the Committee Chairs or Board Members by June 1.  Award presented at the Annual Meeting.
